I just found out about another Dance Club in Barboursville, WV – about 1 1/2 hours from MOV.

They have a Facebook Page that you can find under Ballroom Dancing Huntington, WV. 

Here is the letter I received:

Dear Member and Prospective Member,

Often I have questions about our Dance Club.

We are really unique in that we have no initiation fee or dues. To be a member all you need to do is come to our dances. We have members who have been coming for 25 years. Granted we are all getting older, but we are blessed that we are still carrying on.

We have monthly dances, light hors d’oeuvres, coffee and soft drinks . This is an excellent time for a date night.

Feel free to call on me for any dance or music question you may have.

We can also schedule you for free practice time.

Hope to see you on the dance floor this year.

Just a word to our Shag and Bossa Nova friends: we have a great tune selection just waiting for your steps. We have also added some red hot Boogie movers.

Our first dance for the new year will be January 18th and the next will be our Valentine dance on February 14th.

Our dances are held at the Barboursville WV Community Center.

Notes:

(1) Beginners Classes are designed for those people who are either complete beginners, who have not danced very much, or who wish to brush up on their basic skills. While intermediate and advanced dancers are not discouraged from attending the beginner’s classes, please realize that we will be going over very basic information in those classes.

(2) Intermediate classes are designed for those people who have a fairly significant amount of dance experience. While beginning dancers are not discouraged from attending these intermediate workshops, please be advised that we will be moving fairly quickly in these workshops and if you are a beginning dancer you may feel a bit overwhelmed by the pace. Therefore, if you wish, you are encouraged to attend the beginner’s practice sessions that will be held during the time that the intermediate classes are being held.

Don’t miss the Big Band Dances this year at Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Gym.

3329 Broad St (same street as YMCA),park on the lot off 34th street, & enter the gym at the small green sign “Family Life Center.”

All dances will be Saturday evenings, 7:30-10pm.

We have no kitchen or frig use, so please bring your own non-alcoholic drinks, and snacks, (your own plates & cups also).

Our fantastic Doug Hess Big Band will provide the dance music!

This dance has been cancelled.

The Big Band New Year’s Eve Celebration is a fundraiser for Blennerhassett Island and museum activites and support.  The event is sponsored by the Blennerhassett Historical Foundation.

River Cities Dance – Saturday, Dec 1, 2018!

The next River Cities dance is Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 7:30-10:30pm at Wayside UMC 3001 Grand Central Ave. Vienna WV 26105. Music by Scott Kitchen’s Big Band. Bring your own snacks to share and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the dance.

The membership drive for 2018-2019 is still underway and currently 18 couples have paid memberships. We need 20 couples to break even on our budget, so if you are still considering a membership, please join and help us keep our club going! Also tell your dancing friends, new members are always welcome. The yearly membership package is $225/year per couple, but we will prorate it to $150 for a partial year at this point in the season. We still have a single dance price of $60/couple.

 Several new couples from the beginner dance class will be joining us this month, please introduce yourselves and make them feel welcome.
