Dear Ballroom Dancers,
As you probably know, Felice brings in musicians from all over WV, not just Wood County, in order to fill out the Big Band; from Logan, Glenville, Charleston, Clarksburg, Athens OH…   We never know if we will have a good turnout, and at least once a season we have a very small group.  Because preparation setup is a huge job, we are trying a new idea to help us eliminate the low attendance dances.  We ask that you RSVP by email if you will be attending the next dance, to Joyce & Steve when they send out their dance announcement email each month.  If you can’t attend the dance, no need to reply.  Only if we don’t get enough positive replies, will we cancel that dance and notify you in advance of that dance.

We hope this works well for you and for us!  If anyone has ideas to boost attendance, your help would be appreciated.

 Felice and The Big Band

Our next River Cities dance is coming up this Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 7:30-10:30pm at Wayside UMC 3001 Grand Central Ave. Vienna WV 26105. Music by Gary Stewart Quintet.

Bring your own snacks and beverages to share and enjoy during the dance. The dance is formal dress, with the gentlemen sporting tuxedos or dark suits and the ladies in formal gowns or cocktail dresses.

The membership drive for 2019-2020 is still underway, if you have not renewed your membership or are thinking of becoming a new member,please bring your check to the dance! The yearly membership package is just $225/year per couple and includes all the dances. We still have a single dance price of $60/couple, but it is difficult to plan or survive on single dance income. New members are always welcome!

Debbi Habeb Bailes lives in Nashville and plays for ballroom dancing 3 to 4 nights a week, either with her band, or as a DJ.

Her hometown is Parkersburg and she will be visiting her family.  When she comes to town this month, she will host a ballroom dance for our community!

She said that a couple or two from Parkersburg have danced at our events at Opryland Hotel and Indiana Roof.

** There is a lot of traffic this weekend in Marietta and some of the streets will be closed.  Front street will be closed.  The best way to get to the Academy is to make a right turn onto 3rd Street.  That will take you to Butler Street  where a left turn is required.  Make a left on Butler.   You will go past 2nd street and then make a left turn into an alley.  This alley is located between 2nd street and Front street. Proceed down the Alley and almost to the end of it.  There will be parking spaces on the right side.  After you park, proceed a 100 feet or so to Front street.  You will see the Lafayette Hotel.  If you make a right on front street, you will see the Academy. If you get lost, there will be Security on 2nd street.  They will be able to help you.
